charlie

The world lost an incredible man this past Sunday. He was the principal of the school that I worked at in Boston, but to many others, he was so much more. He touched the lives of everyone he encountered in a meaningful way.

I still remember the first time I met him. He made me fall in love with the school. I knew that with a man like him as its leader, the school undoubtedly had to be a success and I longed to be a part of it. He gave me an indescribable sense of hope because of his dedication. He screened me like I was going to be entrusted with his children, in his heart that was what he was doing, yet still found a way to connect with me and make me feel special. He had a way about him, all the right things to say: words of encouragement, words of comfort, words of discipline. And listeners valued and took to heart every single word.

I know many stand in awe of Charlie, yet he was always so humble. He always saw the best in those around him and not only that, he saw all the potential as well. He truly made a difference in the lives of others and I know every one of those kids that went to that school loved him. Charlie was no ordinary man.
