i love first graders

Day Two of Spring Break Camp and I still love it. I don't know what it is about hearing compliments from first graders. The wonder in their eyes and the bright smiles on their faces get me every time. Seeing Zuva come bounding into the gym this morning, Gianny giving me a hug before she got ready to go on the bus, or just the way they always ask you if they can have permission to do something.

Today, Eleanor said to me during lunch, "You're the best teacher in the whole world." She also told me how great it was for her to be at camp with me, in her own words.

While I was chatting with Lilia, I asked her what she liked most about yesterday and she said "Meeting you." Soooo incredibly adorable. It makes me wonder how it is that I was so fortunate to have such great little campers.

What is it about flattery from first graders? People tell me they like my shoes or that I look nice on any given day (hahaha... no ego problems here), but those are compliments that I rarely reflect on nor genuinely appreciate. There is something magical about their sweet, little scopes of the world that I can't help but love.
